Everyone should have access to evidence-based, accurate information about their body and health. GNE develops Health Education material that is Practical, Equitable, Accessible, Relevant & Receptive and Social (PEARLS).

“Sweet Talk"/"Conversación Dulce” is a  3 hour beginners guide to diabetes, available in English and Spanish.  Hands-on modules introduce people with diabetes and their families to information about, nutrition, food, medicine, and  diabetes self-management to promote health. No literacy required!

 

The core of "Sweet Talk" are videos about Diabetes that provide evidence based information that allows the class to be taught by Community Health Workers or Volunteers (Coaches). The full content is available via subscription to hospitals, clinics, and partner non-profits. Individuals can contact us for access to review the material. The content may not be used for profit.

Coach the Coaches classes are currently available in person, and will soon be online.

The "Nutrition in Pregnancy" video highlights the nutritional needs of pregnant women, stresses the importance of prenatal vitamins, recommends breast feeding, and dispels several common food myths.  

​

"Nutrition for Children" is a guide for parents on the importance of breast feeding, how and when to introduce solid foods to a baby, and some tips on managing colic. 

​

All videos have been successfully field tested, evaluated and edited in the US, Guatemala, Indonesia, Nepal and the Philippines. Several are available in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesian and two local dialects.

(For Kids  under 7) - Get swept away in the plot and join the young nutrition heroes as they share their knowledge among one another for the good of all kids and adults!

The  Type 1 diabetes story was created by a medical student who struggled with type 1 diabetes as a child. The story helps a child with understand the emotions and struggles they may be feeling.
